2021 Bookings and cancellation

We understand in these uncertain times that many people will want to know when they book that they don't risk losing any money. To allow everyone to still look forward to an Old Barn holiday, despite the current uncertainty, we have changed our booking payment t&c's as follows:
1. No deposit required, just a flat £50 commitment fee to reserve your holiday.
2. Balance payment due just two weeks before arrival.
3. We strongly advise taking appropriate travel insurance at the time of booking your holiday. In the event of a guest having to cancel their stay within the final weeks of arrival due to illness or the need to self-isolate the guest will need to have appropriate insurance to cover themselves unless we can rebook the dates.
4. We do not allow guests to book or stay in our property for the purpose of self isolation.
5. In the event of your holiday having to be cancelled due to total lockdown we will refund all money paid except the non-refundable £50 commitment fee.
6. We reserve the right to cancel your booking for any justifiable reason. For example if your home is put in a tier that is being advised not to travel and we feel uncomfortable about hosting you. We also reserve the right to cancel your booking if a guest staying prior to your arrival tests positive. In all cases we will refund all payments made.
7. In the event of a guest acquiring symptoms of Covid 19 whilst staying at The Old Barn they should inform us immediately by text, self-isolate and minimise any risk of transmission to any other person and request a test. If the period of self isolation waiting for the test result takes the guest beyond the end of their booking, they will be liable for the rent for the additional time that they stay in our cottage. As this will most likely require us to cancel the bookings of other guests, they will be liable for the amount needed to refund following guests. We regret this situation, but naturally, we will need to reimburse those guests whose trips are cancelled as a result. If the test result confirms that the guest has COVID-19, they should return home immediately if they reasonably can without putting others at risk.
8. If a guest needs to be tested whilst staying with us and the test result is negative we are happy for the guest to stay until the end of their booked holiday

Covid cleaning and keeping our guests safe.

We have always taken great pride in the cleanliness and high standards of hygiene in The Old Barn and our reviews reflect as such. We are now taking further steps to keep our guests safe for further for the foreseeable future.

All soft furnishings that cannot be steam cleaned between each stay, have been removed. Sadly this includes books and the little homely touches that usually make the accommodation so homely.

All equipment is sanitized throughout the cleaning process and hand touch surfaces are sanitised at the end of each cleaning cycle, ie light switches, door handles etc.

Our cleaning detergents we use are to standard EN14476 and these products along with handwashing products and wipes will be left for your personal use during your stay.

All bedding and linen is cleaned by a professional cleaning company who adhere to strict covid cleaning guidelines.
